HistoryLink.org- the Free Online Encyclopedia of Washington State History

It's been 10 years since HistoryLink.org went live with its online encyclopedia of Seattle and King County history. Now this resource covers the whole state, with entries on

• people (Thomas S. Foley, Ivar Haglund),
  
• business and industry (Nordstrom Department Store, Wine in Washington State),
  
• events (Seattle General Strike, 1919), Beatles play at the Seattle Center Coliseum on August 21, 1964),
  
• controversies (Busing in Seattle: A Well-Intentioned Failure, Prohibition),
  
• places (Seattle's University District -- a Slide Show of its Early History (1890-1919), Hoquiam -- Thumbnail History), and
  
• the arts (Rock Music -- Seattle).

It's an amazingly rich resource -- and fun to browse, too!

Prize: The first UW law student to write to Reference with a note saying you looked at HistoryLink gets a small prize (we have some nice chocolate bars and other little treats).
Update: we have a winner (our first faculty member)!
Further update: Never mind: the prof declined the prize. So it's still available!
