Need a Study Break?

Exam-Studying Diversions: Quizzes to test your legal knowledge (and a fun way to feel like you're studying!)

I am a fan of all things trivia and quiz-related, so I came up with a list of some of my favorites.  Some have a legal spin that could help you study.  Others are purely fun and a diversion. And some even help  feed the hungry!  Read on to find links.

Public International Law Quiz on the Oxford University Press’ Blog gives 12 questions on public international law, with links to more information on the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law

Pew Research Center: The News IQ Quiz asks, “Do you know more about the news than the average American?”  Chances are, you do, in this 13 question, quick quiz.

Head to Freerice.com when you’re procrastinating and want to have a good cause. Each correct answer donates 10 grains of rice to the World Food Programme. There are lots of available subjects, even though the default is English Vocabulary.  On this site, you can make groups to donate in massive quantities (anyone want to start a UW Law group?), sign up to track your totals, or just play for fun.

Sporcle is a site full of user-created quizzes or “mentally stimulating diversions” as their tag implies.  Some legal quizzes have been created that would give you the break you need, while helping in your studies.  Just a warning: once you start, you will find it hard to stop!

·       Name legal terms Given the definition, write the term.  This would be great for 1Ls or anyone to learn immediate recall of these pesky legal words.

·       If you’re a Justice Stevens fan, name all the justices who served alongside Justice Stevens

·       Name the US Surpeme Court Justices 1789-present (lists the president who appointed and whether he/she was chief justice or associate)

·       Landmark US Supreme Court Decisions   A great review for con law!

And lots of other fun quizzes for whatever your interests: entertainment, history, movies, literature, geography, sports, television, and music.
